Airbnb to Accept Payment in Crypto with Bitrefill

Swedish cryptocurrency gift card company Bitrefill has included a new service that will allow customers to book their favorite Airbnb rentals using five popular cryptocurrencies. Bitrefill announced news about this new payment system over their official Twitter page on Wednesday.

Customers will now be able to pay their Airbnb gift cards using any of the following five cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Ether, Litecoin, Dogecoin, and Dash.

Only Available in US

However, this service is only available for U.S. customers with a U.S. –based method for payment. Bitrefill indicated this information on their official website. Also, the Airbnb gift cards are only for reservations that are less than 28 nights. The said gift cards are available in $25, $50 and $100 denominations. Bitrefill also mentioned that the Airbnb gift card is a voucher product and those who avail of this product will be provided with a voucher code along with step by step instructions on how to use their gift cards.

Netflix Subscription for Crypto

Aside from their Airbnb gift card offering, Bitrefill supports Netflix subscription payments using the same five cryptocurrencies. Bitrefill is known to offer gift cards for gaming, travel services, and many more. The type of gift card varies from location to location.

Bitrefill is the first supporter of the Lightning Network. Earlier this year, it announced that it plans to make the payment easier for members using its own “Thor” system. This allows users to send Lightning channels to other people with no further setup needed.
