Auditing Firm KPMG Establishes Four Skills Essential for a Blockchain Career

Big Four firm KPMG has determined the four top skills needed to have a successful career in blockchain.

The auditing firm stated in a press release that more companies will be looking into blockchain technology in 2019. It added that no blockchain project will be able to scale or succeed without the support of a “multifaceted team that goes beyond technologists.”

Skills Needed to Succeed in Blockchain Industry

KPMG claims it has established the top skills required for a career in the blockchain industry. The company argued that the successful formation of blockchain technology relies on professionals that are both business savvy and technology literate.

A keen business sense is said to be needed in order to deeply understand specific business processes. This is key to creating and defining a strongly-favored use case and value proposal for a project. Meanwhile, technology literacy is critical in understanding blockchain operations and processes. KPMG says it’s vital to know how and when to apply that knowledge to a particular use case.

Hacker Mentality

The auditing firm also stated that professionals in the blockchain industry should have highly developed data analytics acumen so they can interpret and employ data collected from a blockchain. A “hacker mentality” is also required as it will allow teams to be flexible as they explore various options. They basically have to devise experiments and solutions by “hacking the problem” from numerous perspectives.

Blockchain is Transforming Businesses

KPMG had previously shared a survey that showed 48 percent of C-level execs expect blockchain to transform the way businesses will be conducted in the next three years. When pressed about the chances of their companies implementing blockchain tech, 41 percent of the respondents say it’s likely the technology would be used.
