Blockchain-powered browser Brave continues to expand its cryptocurrency tipping feature by integrating it with social media platforms Reddit and Vimeo. The move was recently announced on Twitter.
According to the tweet, the latest version of the Brave internet browser allows users to leave tips on social news platform Reddit and Vimeo, the ad-free video site. They will just utilize Brave’s Basic Attention Token (BAT).
The move seems to have rejuvenated the currency. BAT is up by around 4.6 percent over the past week. Coin360 had pegged the crypto to be trading at around $0.192.
The newly offered tipping feature on both Reddit and Vimeo come several weeks after it was launched on Twitter. The tip option underwent a service trial on testing browser Brave Nightly to great success.
However, news that Brave would be rolling-out the tipping service on Reddit and Vimeo was announced back in summer as part of the blockchain browser’s developer preview.
Brave’s move to incorporate a tipping option on the two platforms was not the first time that users were introduced to the idea of tipping for content.
Vimeo’s Tip Jar Feature
Back in 2012, Vimeo had a Tip Jar feature that allowed content creators to receive donations ranging from $1 to $500 through PayPal or credit cards. But the service was discontinued in July 2015 when the platform opted to concentrate on Vimeo On Demand.
Meanwhile, Reddit begun a content tipping alternative in Bitcoin (BTC) via the bitcointip bot. The option was canceled to give way Changetip, another BTC tipping service. But this was also stopped in 2017.
