Square, a US-based payment platform, is currently in the process of employing cryptocurrency engineers and offering salaries for them in terms of digital currency. Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Square, has long been a Bitcoin advocate, integrating Bitcoin payments into one of his other consumer apps, Cash.
According to job postings, Square is currently hiring around 3 or 4 crypto engineers and one full-time designer. They can work remotely, report directly to the CEO and they will get paid in Bitcoin. In fact, Dorsey believes that this is a pioneer when it comes to the first open source initiative that does not depend on the company’s objectives. The hired engineers will specifically work on a task where they should provide the crypto community with the best in terms of economically empowering the individual.
Square’s Crypto Pivot
The previous report of Square revealed its 2018 annual revenue at $166 million. The company was able to achieve $52 million more during the Q4 of 2018 compared to the previous quarters. However, it is clear that profits from the company’s Bitcoin operations were still low, limited to the Cash app.
Last month, Dorsey said that Bitcoin was not just born online but was also developed and tested on the Internet. Dorsey declared that Bitcoin was indeed a brainchild of the Internet and it is the native currency of the Internet.
