You Can Now Send Bitcoin Tips Over Lightning on Twitter

When you’re looking for more in twitter other than liking favorite tweets, bitcoin transaction is now possible on Twitter.

Twitter Founder and CEO Jack Dorsey, who just participated in the Lightning Network torch passing.

A new Chrome Extension which is now available to users of Google browser has been released by the beta app Tippin, as announced Saturday. The user of this app over Twitter can now send bitcoin payments thru the Lightning Network, a great way to make transactions feasible on bitcoin at a broad scale for the very first time.

By enabling the extension, a lightning bolt icon will pop up on every tweet next to the familiar buttons of “like” and “retweet.”

Sergio Abril, a Tippin engineer, told CoinDesk: “In my opinion, tipping is going to be incredibly popular with a lightning network; It’s the first time we can send small amounts almost at no cost, and we can do it incredibly fast.”

The user of the app Tippin needs to have a Twitter account. Tippin is hoping to capitalize the power on crypto Twitter to attract more users.

Abril also said, “Tippin started as a personal side project a couple of months ago so that I could understand lightning network a bit more, and of course help push adoption, but it’s starting to get big.”
